About Starlapps

Rye East Sussex Camber Castle Starlapps Finnish LapphundsTykky and Ilo at Camber Castle
I have always been dog-mad, even from my earliest years which were spent rescuing abandoned puppies and grooming friends' dogs or persuading them they really did want a young handler to help on the long coach trips to champ shows. The obsession has hardly modified with the years - and it's more specific now. My interests are in primitive breeds and their relationships with man over time; dingoes and wolves and pretty much anything related to their health, evolution, behaviour or genetics.

I'm also blessed that my two lappies can walk with me on this journey. Together we have tried herding, tracking, obedience, rally-o, agility, bike-joring, ski-joring and all manner of training techniques, adopting some and discarding others. We have experimented with all kinds of food from premium brown balls to fresh green tripe and everything in between. We have discovered what works and what doesn't, what makes us happy and what to do when it all goes wrong. We are a solid bonded unit - with the knocks to prove it - and we are still learning new things every day.

Mostly we just hang out in nature together. We are so very fortunate to live here. The beach and marsh walks are almost endless and the visibility means training is easier and safer. And the weather is some of the best in the UK!

I plan to have a litter very occasionally. Please feel free to explore my site to discover more about my dogs, my approach to breeding, and to find out about previous Starlapps pups who are now giving their owners so much joy.

I love your photos, please keep sending them in - If you would like crediting and I have missed one or two, please do tell me.
